In production, rigorous quality control is implemented on components, circuit boards, and the finished goods, assuring products without defects.
An inverter brake unit, also known as an inverter braking chopper, is an electronic device used in variable frequency drives (VFDs) to provide dynamic braking to an AC motor.
When a motor is driven by a VFD, the motor's kinetic energy is stored in its rotating mass. When the VFD stops the motor, this kinetic energy must be dissipated or absorbed by the system. If this energy is not dissipated or absorbed properly, it can cause the motor to coast, which can be dangerous or lead to equipment damage.
An inverter brake unit provides dynamic braking by quickly switching the DC bus voltage of the VFD to a resistor, which dissipates the energy as heat. This allows the motor to be stopped quickly and safely, preventing coasting and reducing the risk of damage to the motor and surrounding equipment.
Inverter brake units are commonly used in applications where rapid stopping of a motor is required, such as in elevators, cranes, and conveyor systems.
